Then, dab your feet with anti-fungal foot powder, which will keep them dry and prevent the growth of fungus. Sprinkle the same powder inside of your shoes before and after you wear them.
3. Wear cotton socks
Wear cotton socks, which absorb perspiration. Socks made of synthetic materials encourage perspiration and enable moisture to sit against the skin. Synthetic fibers also harbor yeast, bacteria, and fungus. Avoid going sockless when you wear shoes because if you don’t wear socks, there will be nothing to absorb the sweat that your feet produce.
4. Soak your feet in saltwater or bathe them in vinegar
Soaking your feet in saltwater pulls the moisture out of your skin and reduces the amount of bacteria that can survive. To create a salt footbath, dissolve ½ cup to 1 cup of kosher salt in warm water and soak your feet in the solution for 20 minutes. You can also bathe your feet in vinegar to create an inhospitable environment for odor-causing bacteria. Vinegar has a drying effect that can starve moisture-craving bacteria. To create a vinegar footbath, mix one part vinegar with two parts water and soak your feet for 30 minutes a day for a week.
5. Put medicated insoles in your shoes
Put medicated insoles in your shoes because they have a deodorizing effect that can help prevent smelly feet. Avoid wearing plastic shoes, which will make your feet smell more. Instead, wear leather or canvas shoes, which let your feet breathe. In the summertime, wear open-toed sandals and go barefoot when you are at home.
